Highlights of Spring 2011
We had a lot of rain and snow this spring. This is the usually a dry river bed on Greenspot Road on the way to Meagan and John's. They let a lot of water out of the dam.
Macie is getting bigger and can wear pigtails now. She is not afraid of Grandpa anymore! They are great friends because he takes her outside and gives her otterpops and oranges.
Everyone loves Macie. We all visit her as often as we can.
One of the fun things we did this spring was go to San Diego with Dan and Heidi's family. We visited the Temple and the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center, which was really touching. The kids panned for gold and we learned about what some of our distant relatives went through to help the church to grow
We ate delicious fish tacos in Chula Vista --we had a tailgate party with them.
We also enjoyed the fresh strawberries from the field across the street from the fish taco stand.
But going to Ocean Beach is always my favorite--I love to walk on the west coast's longest pier and eat at Hodad's.
Jamie, Andrew and I took a bike ride around Mission Bay and ate cinnamon rolls before heading home and going to stake conference.
At stake conference we enjoyed hearing the visiting authorities, Elder D. Todd Christopherson from the quorum of the 12 Apostles and Elder Packer, an area authority seventy. We were surprised to be called into the stake offices on Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. before the meeting started to find that the new stake president, whom we did not know who it was, had asked for Andrew to be the new Stake Clerk. Andrew has never been a clerk before, but of course accepted the call.
This is Andrew with the new stake presidency , President Kirk Garvin, President Mitch Kinser (1st counselor) and President Wesley Andrews (2nd counselor) Elder Christopherson and Elder Packer. Andrew is not in a suit coat because he sang in the choir and was asked to wear just a plain white shirt and tie. Elder Christopherson was gracious enough to take pictures with our children.
We also found time during spring break to go to our time share in Palm Springs. A favorite place to be.
